Anyone who is thinking of becoming a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church is invited to meet with Pastor Raum on Sunday, September, at the 10 AM Education Hour, in his office.

Permanent Name Tags
Permanent name tags are available for worshippers who wish to order one. They are magnetic-backed, so they won't damage your clothes, and have just your name so you can use them outside of church if you want. They cost $4.25 each and can be ordered by completing an order form at the name tag table in the Narthex.

EDUCATION HOUR, Sunday at 10 AM
Adult Ed: beginning September 12:
Great Figures of the Old Testament. Characters to be studied are: Abraham and Sarah, Noah, Moses, Samson, Ruth, Elijah and Ahab, David, Job, Jonah, Jeremiah, the Ancestors of Jesus (Tamar, Rahab and Ruth) and Isaiah. Teachers include Rick Raum, Laura Smit, Henry and Mary VanderGoot, and visiting professors from Calvin College and Seminary and from Hope College.
The Series begins on September 12 with Pastor Raum teaching "Abraham and Sarah."
Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University." This program consists of a 13-week video curriculum - taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey - that incorporates small group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. Financial Peace UIniversity is highly entertaining for everyone, with a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages. A great way to take stock of your finances, your giving and your future.
The first 12 families to sign up in the church office will receive the Family Financial Workbook at a discounted rate of $85. Additional workbooks will be available at the current price of $110. If you would like to participate but cannot afford the workbook, please see Pastor Raum in confidence and one will be provided for you.
CHILDREN and YOUTH
A Church school leader will be welcoming students and parents in the Nartex (gathering space) next Sunday and guilding them to the Church School Assembly area and classrooms.
BIBLE STUDIES
The Beatitudes, taught by Rev. Rick Raum, meets Thursdays, 9:30-10:30 AM, beginning September 16. The workbook is The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character, by John Stott, and costs $8.
The Book of Colossians, taught by Dr. Laura Smit. Meets Sunday, 7-8 PM, beginning September 19.
THIS WEEK AT FHPC
PW Luncheon: All women are invited to lunch at Sayfee's Restaurant the first Tuesday of each month at 12:30 PM. Please RSVP to Sandy Suarez. The next luncheon in September 7.
Adult Bells and Choir will begin this week on Wednesday, September 8:

Pieceful Gathering Quilters will meet Thursday, September 9, from 2 to 8 PM in Fellowship Hall. EVERYONE is welcome to join us, even if you do not know how to sew! We enjoy teaching any part of the process you would like to learn. Come for an hour, or stay the entire time. If you have any questions, call Mary Klynstra.
Drama / Liturgical Dance. If you are interested in participating in drama or liturgical dance this year as either a performer or a leader, please contact Megan Horist by e-mail - megan@fhpcusa.org, or in the church office. There will be an informational meeting and sign-up for both groups on Thursday, September 9 at 5:00 PM.

The PW Prayer Group and the First Friday Women's Breakfast Fellowship are joining together to form a new group. We'll begin on Monday, September 13, meeting at Forest Hills Foods cafe area at 9:00 AM. All women of the church are welcome. Join us for our first meeting when we will brainstorm ideas for a book to study and for a format to include prayer and fellowship. If you have any questions, contact Ina Griffin.
Children's and Youth Chimes, Bells and Choirs will begin next week on Wednesday, September 15th:

Mizpah's - Mark your calendar! The Mizpahs will meet in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 25 at 5:00 PM for a September celebration and light supper.
OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST
PW Rummage Sale: Presbyterian Women of FHPC are looking for a Chair and Co-Chair for the Fall Rummage Sale. This event is an important mission function for the community and non-profit organizations that benefit from donation of items and financial support from proceeds of the sale thoughout the year. Funds from the Rummage Sale support Presbyterian Disaster Relief projects, local non-profits such a Liz's House, Second Harvest Gleaners Food Bank of West Michigan, ACCESS 6, and others. We hope to have the Fall Rummage Sale in mid-to-late October 2010. If you are interested in being a Chair or Co-Chair, please contact Roberta Gilligan.
New Picture Directory of FHPC will be prepared this Fall, with pictures to be taken Oct. 13-16 and Oct. 22-23. Sign-ups can be done on-line at www.signup.olanmills.com (enter 616-942-2751), or here at church on Sunday mornings, September 12, 19 and 26.
