We're going to try again this year for Logan! We will be heading to Logan, West Virginia, leaving EARLY on Sunday, June 11th, 2023 and returning late on Saturday, June 17th, 2023.
All current 8th-12th grade students are invited to participate and can find out more information about the trip below. You will also be able to click the link below to register your student for the trip! |
MORE INFORMATION
WHO IS INVITED | All current 8th-12th grade students are invited to participate and can find out more information about the trip below. We also encourage students to bring friends! It's such a fun week and our philosophy is always- the more, the merrier!
COST | I do not yet have a cost, because it depends on how many students go, but it's looking like with increased costs for everything, we're looking at closer to $750 for the week depending on our numbers. HOWEVER, this should not prohibit you from registering your student for the mission trip, most of our students are able to fundraise the entire cost of their trip... and even in such a strange year, we will still offer ways to fundraise the money so that you, hopefully, pay NOTHING outside of the $200 deposit.
SERVING IN LOGAN, WEST VIRGINIA | We will be serving with YOUTHWORKS, the same organization we have used over many years (including last year's trip to Nashville). In Logan, West Virginia we will (most likely) be painting, cleaning, doing yard work, or small work projects. There is a SMALL chance that there will be an opportunity to work with children, but we won't know that until it gets closer. This all being said, we are more than willing to go "where needed" and will be prepared that we may be asked to do other things, instead of what we expect. :)
TO ENSURE YOUR STUDENT'S SPOT | We will need your $200 non-refundable deposit by FEBRUARY 14, 2023. Unfortunately, if your student decides to cancel their spot on the trip after this date, they will still be responsible for the full financial balance of the trip (unless another student can be found to take the spot). Sign ups are allowed up until May, but there is no guarantee that there will be space available at the site.
MISSION TRIP HANG OUT(s) | The best way to get to know your fellow mission trippers (and possibly life long friends) is to attend our Sunday youth group. But for those that can't make it, and for the 8th graders that will go, we will host a few "mandatory" hang outs throughout the year for all of our students committed to the trip for them to get to know one another. At these hang outs, we will talk about the trip as well as try to foster some comfortability for the group coming together as a whole, maybe easing some nerves on joining a trip where you barely know anyone. :)
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES | For fundraising this year, we will have:
+CARAMEL APPLE SALES (December)
+MARCH MADNESS (Feb/March)
+SUPPORT LETTERS TO MAIL OUT
+MOST LIKELY NO KIDS NIGHT OUT THIS YEAR
I'm praying for each of your students that God might work through them and move them to participate in this trip. I have yet to speak to a student that ever regrets going on mission trip. Sometimes it's scary to think about spending a week away from home, and with some strangers (or upperclassman) but I can assure that we will be working all week to help everyone feel included (and our students are rockstars at that!) We also will have a couple of mandatory meetings once the weather is nicer where we can get to know one another!
